voJMY'uF Hqo COUNTY _} STATE OF HAWAII .e ,rg'OF•N►'� RESOLUTION NO. 144 22 SOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO NEGOTIATE A TWO-YEAR LEASE OF REAL PROPERTY, WEST HAWAII HOMELESS CAMPUS, SITUATED AT DISTRICT OF NORTH KONA, COUNTY AND STATE OF HAWAII, AND IDENTIFIED AS A PORTION OF TAX MAP KEYS: (3) 7-4-010:044 AND (3) 7-4- 010:020, TO HOPE SERVICES HAWAII, INC WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii owns the property located at 74-5593 Pawai Place, Kailua-Kona, County and State of Hawaii, known as the West Hawaii Homeless Campus, identified as Tax Map Keys (3) 7-4-010:044 and(3) 7-4-010:020 for the purpose of providing services to homeless individuals; and WHEREAS, HOPE Services Hawaii, Inc., a non-profit organization, desires to negotiate a two (2) year lease for the period March 3, 2022 through March 2, 2024, with two (2) twelve (12) month option terms, to be used as an Assessment Center and Emergency Shelter for single individuals who are experiencing homelessness; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Hawaii County Code Article 19, Section 2-120(a)(2), the Hawaii County Council may, by resolution approved by a majority of members, direct the Finance Director to negotiate the disposition of real property by leasing it to a non-profit organization, at such rentals and on such terms and conditions as deemed proper; and WHEREAS, Hawaii County Code Article 19, section 2-120(b) provides such lease of real property to a non-profit organization may be made without notice or appraisal; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII,that pursuant to Hawaii County Code Chapter 2, Article 9, Section 2-120(a)(2), the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to negotiate a multi-year lease (with renewal options for additional terms)with HOPE Services Hawaii, Inc., a non-profit organization, without notice or appraisal, located at 74-5593 Pawai Place, Kailua-Kona, County and State of Hawaii, known as the West Hawaii Homeless Campus, identified as Tax Map Keys (3) 7-4-010:044 and (3) 7-4-010:020. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is hereby authorized to execute said lease on behalf of the County of Hawaii following its approval by the Council as noted herein.
