G•'Vii. <br /> 6+1�:nw rof:*ate <br /> �T�mtBP•Ng,� <br /> RESOLUTION 1V <br /> RESOLUTION NSF G/APP P IATN AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TANAI ANA <br /> TOCONSTRUCT WIRE FENCING FOR AT KOHANAIKI BEACHPARK. <br /> WHEREAS, the mission of Kohanaiki `Ghana, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is to <br /> remain active in the care and preservation of the cultural and natural resources at Kohanaiki <br /> Beach Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, the goal of Kohanaiki `Ghana is to foster community engagement and <br /> support through the development and implementation of innovative stewardship programs that <br /> are specific to Kohanaiki Beach Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kohanaiki Beach Park is managed through a three-way partnership <br /> between the County of Hawaii, the community, and Kohanaiki Shores LLC; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kohanaiki `Ohana is requesting funds to construct protective wire fencing <br /> around the Cultural Education Center's Native Plant Garden at Kohanaiki Beach Park, and <br /> related expenses, to protect a wide variety of native plants that were originally brought here by <br /> the early Polynesians for food, medicine and cordage, that is being damaged daily by wild goats; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Cultural Education Center falls within the Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation's Culture and Education program to promote,perpetuate, and encourage activities <br /> and programs in culture, art, history, and humanities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Kohanaiki `Ghana to construct wire fencing around <br /> the Cultural Education Center's Native Plant Garden at Kohanaiki Beach Park. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
