Form#: B-52
7/18/91
DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
DEPARTMENT: Civil Defense DATE: 07/18/2022
STAFF CONTACT: on Sole msaas PHONE: (808) 937-2182
A. REQUEST:
Resolution for an Interlocal Agreement between County of Hawaii and the Federal Aviation Admins tration to
mount four(4)aviation weather cameras at the County owned Alala one Radio Site.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEE QEDS.
.
As part of the FAA Weather Camera Program, the FAA is requesting authorization to install a camera system
at the County owned Alala Cone radio site. These cameras will be used primarily for pilots to view current
weather conditions along their routes before they fly to better understand the weather conditions they may
encounter. Weather Cameras are color digital cameras aimed at the sky (with enough ground view to
establish landmarks) so pilots can actually see what the weather looks like before they fly. The FAA takes an
image every ten minutes and keep six hoursworth of images available so pilots can see how the weather is
progressing as well. Four cameras will be installed and each will have a 500 view range so the cameras can
cover a vast area.
SIGNED: DATE:
Departure sad
