S30 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE SALVATION <br /> ARMY TO REPLACE FOOD AND SUPPLIES STOLEN FROM ITS KONA CORPS <br /> COMMUNITY CENTER. <br /> WHEREAS, The Salvation Army is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that meets the <br /> physical and spiritual needs of people all around the world, without discrimination, every day of <br /> the year; and <br /> WHEREAS, this past July, The Salvation Army's Kona Corps Community Center was <br /> burglarized, suffering extensive damage to its building and robbed of school supplies, food, adult <br /> supplements, adult diapers, and other items meant for distribution to community members in <br /> need; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Salvation Army is requesting funds to purchase school supplies, food, <br /> adult supplements, adult diapers, and other materials and supplies to replace the items stolen <br /> and/or damaged from its Kona Corps Community Center; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support <br /> organizations and programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the general public in a <br /> drug- and alcohol-free environment, such as The Salvation Army's distribution of food and <br /> supplies at its Kona Corps Community Center; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Salvation Army to replace food and supplies stolen <br /> from its Kona Corps Community Center. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
