Sako PHONE: 961-8811 <br /> A REQUEST: <br /> This is a request for a resolution to enter into a contract with Hui Ho`olako For Hawaiian <br /> Initiatives, a non-profit organization, for the purpose of supporting the Gorse Pilot Program for <br /> $500,000.00. This program involves the harvesting of gorse from Mauna Kea, renovation of <br /> the Feed Mill located at the University of Hawaii, at Hilo`s Panaewa Farm and conducting a <br /> study of gorse and other feedstock as a livestock feed for palatability and weight gain. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> Act 204 appropriated $500,000.00 from the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands Aina <br /> Legacy program to be used to renovate the Feed Mill, harvest gorse to be incorporated into <br /> livestock feed and to conduct feed trials for feed palatability and weight-gain.
