COUNTY OF I meSTATE OF F •1 iq w:wwow'a qyf 4F.N�,i RESOLUTION NO. t Z A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TAAI` EI I MUSEUM TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES TO CONSTRUCT " E POWER F WATER" SCIENCE EXHIBIT IN KNA. WHEREAS, the Hawaii Keiki Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created for the purpose of starting a children's science discovery center in West Hawaii, and its mission is to inspire curiosity, creativity, and innovation in children by introducing them to science during their formative years; and WHEREAS, the "Hawai`i Keiki Museum" in West Hawaii was established to teach our keiki through science discovery that local challenges are global concerns, and that climate protection, ocean health research, astronomy studies, and earth science investigations are all currently being conducted on the Big Island; and WHEREAS, the Hawaii Keiki Museum is requesting funds to assist with expenses for material, equipment, and related supplies to construct its science exhibit entitled"The Power of Water" at its museum in Kona; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support organizations and programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the public in a drug- and alcohol-free environment, such as the Hawaii Keiki Museum's science exhibit in Kona; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Hawaii Keiki Museum to assist with expenses to construct "The Power of Water" science exhibit in Kona. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
