-4 0 <br /> HAWAIICOUNTY OF t+ e§ STATE OF HAWAPI <br /> ,T�oFwr.:N <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM ESIGNATE FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TTHE HAMAKUA <br /> HEALTH CENTER, INC., FOR E 14th ANNUAL FESTIVITIES FOR THE UNITE <br /> NATIONS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE. <br /> WHEREAS, Hdmakua Health Center, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br /> serves the Big Island of Hawaii by providing accessible, affordable, duality health care, and <br /> educational services with an emphasis on individual and community wellness; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Health Center, Inc., is one of the numerous organizations that <br /> comprise the Peace Committee of Honoka`a that is coordinating the Peace Day Festivities, which <br /> have become the most elaborate and significant set of events of its kind in Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 14th Annual Festivities for the United Nations International Day of <br /> Peace (Peace Day Festivities) is a series of free events that will take place in Honoka`a on <br /> September 24 through October 1, 2022; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Peace Day Festivities events will include a Peace Poster Contest, Ring <br /> Your Bell for Peace (a world-wide event), a Peace Pole installation (in collaboration with the <br /> Rotary Club), "Wine at 5" (Blue Zones Project), the"Peace Out" Street Festival and a Day of <br /> Mindfulness; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hamdkua Health Center is requesting funds to help with expenses for <br /> promotion, professional fees, insurance, security, and prizes; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports developing partnerships <br /> with other recreation providers as well as community organizations to maximize services and <br /> activities for the public as well as providing educational and leisure activities to share, preserve, <br /> perpetuate, and foster the appreciation of our rich multi-cultural heritage in the arts,history, and <br /> humanities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hdmakua Health Center, Inc., for the 14th Annual <br /> Festivities for the United Nations International Day of Peace. <br />
