JNyYvOf <br /> O y <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI <br /> G i;° grSTATE OF HAWAIII <br /> pp•µ�� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 55S 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> LIONS FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 2022 HILO <br /> DOWNTOWN CHRISTMAS LIGHTS PARADE, "ROARING INTO THE HOLIDAYS". <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Lions Foundation is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that <br /> is dedicated to serving the needs of the greater community; and <br /> WHEREAS,the holiday season is nearly upon us, and the Big Island Lions Foundation <br /> has volunteered to take on the task of coordinating the 2022 Milo Downtown Christmas Lights <br /> Parade, "Roaring Into the Holidays", the parade being a highly anticipated event that has been <br /> dormant since the COVID-19 pandemic; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Lions Foundation is requesting funding assistance to help <br /> cover necessary expenses, including, but not limited to, special duty police officers to ensure <br /> safety, participant candy, permits, signage, banners, safety equipment/supplies for volunteers, <br /> and advertising; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals and objectives of the Department of Parks and Recreation <br /> is to provide or assist in the provision of events and activates that celebrate our diverse cultural <br /> and historic traditions in healthy and safe environments; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Big Island Lions Foundation to assist with <br /> expenses related to the coordination of the 2022 Hilo Downtown Christmas Lights Parade, <br /> "Roaring Into the Holidays". <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Council hereby transfers/appropriates <br /> the following amount as set forth below: <br />
