public on the historical significance of Hapu`u and to encourage stewardship, (2) repair the pasture fence for more effective land management, (3) restore the protective fencing around Hale 0 Ka`ili Heiau, and(4) implement safety improvements for pedestrian access through the property; and WHEREAS, the project proposed by North Kohala Community Resource Center and Kohala Lihikai will benefit the community-at-large and leverage partnerships to maintain a healthy stewardship of the Hapu`u property, which was acquired in 2018 through the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund; now,therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that, pursuant to Section 10-16(h)(1) of the Hawai`i County Charter, a Maintenance Fund stewardship grant shall be awarded to North Kohala Community Resource Center in the amount of$37,690. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 10-16(g) of the Hawai`i County Charter, funds from the stewardship grant awarded by this resolution shall be used for public safety maintenance and preservation of the Hapu`u,North Kohala property acquired through the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund, identified as tax map key (3) 5-3-007:022. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance.
