educate the public and increase stewardship actions, (3) work with local students to identify, prioritize, and implement stewardship actions, and(4) mitigate wildfire hazards by pruning kiawe trees,removing wood fuel, and weed-whacking grasses and groundcovers; and WHEREAS,the project proposed by North Kohala Community Resource Center and Kohala Lihikai will benefit the community-at-large and leverage partnerships to maintain a healthy stewardship of the Pao`o property, which was acquired in 2010 through the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that, pursuant to Section 10-16(h)(1) of the Hawai`i County Charter, a Maintenance Fund stewardship grant shall be awarded to North Kohala Community Resource Center in the amount of$34,898. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 10-16(g) of the Hawai`i County Charter, funds from the stewardship grant awarded by this resolution shall be used for public safety maintenance and preservation of the Pao`o,North Kohala property acquired through the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund, identified as tax map key (3) 5-7-001:005. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance.
