SGG 22 <br /> RESOLUTION TRANSFERRINGIAPPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM EIGNAT FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDEGRANT TT ALA <br /> COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER FOR ITS KOHALA CARES PROJECT. <br /> WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose mission is to increase the number of successful community projects that <br /> benefit North Kohala through education, training, and bridges to funding, and has currently <br /> supported over 75 community projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kohala Cares is a project of North Kohala Community Resource Center <br /> designed to provide the most vulnerable households in North Kohala with food and care support <br /> through the purchase and distribution of groceries; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kohala Cares project currently provides 450 North Kohala residents <br /> with weekly groceries to assist in the sustainability of its community residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center is requesting funds to be <br /> used for the purchase of food and groceries for the Kohala Cares community food distribution <br /> project in North Kohala; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports the enhancement of <br /> the standard of living of food-insecure residents through food assistance programs; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to North Kohala Community Resource Center for <br /> its Kohala Cares project for community food distribution. <br />
