No. 531-22 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 11:06 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 531-22, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 531-22, transmitted by Council Member Rebecca Villegas via Communication No. 970 dated <br /> August 26, 2022, authorizes the Director of Finance to enter into negotiations for the acquisition of Tax Map <br /> Keys: 7-8-012:035 and 106, situated in the District of North Kona, also known as Keauhou Bay, utilizing <br /> the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation fund. <br /> The County seeks to acquire approximately 26,390 square feet of land to protect sacred burial grounds, <br /> natural resources and buffer zones, and preserve and promote Hawaiian culture, tradition, and customary <br /> practices. This parcel is listed as priority number 13 for purchase in the 2021 Annual Report of the Public <br /> Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission. <br /> Committee Member Rebecca Villegas provided a brief background of the property, emphasizing its <br /> significance and potential benefit for the community. <br /> Committee Member Maile David confirmed the location of the property. Ms. David then stated her support. <br /> Committee Member Ashley L.
