S'L'ATE OF HAWAII <br /> �PFOF H► s <br /> t <br /> 'I <br /> I <br /> SOLUTION NO. 563 22 <br /> (DBAFT -- <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHI I INTO <br /> AGREEMENTIT THE STATE OF HAWAVI DEPARTMENT OF <br /> TRANSPORTATION PURSU T TO HRS 4 - , FOR <br /> THE HAWAVI COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT. <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation has <br /> authorized federally derived funds to be provided to the Hawaii County Police <br /> Department for their Distracted Driving, Traffic Services and Speed Enforcement <br /> programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the funds from this grant will be used for training, education, <br /> enforcement and community collaboration to reduce the number of traffic fatalities <br /> and injuries; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County <br /> departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the <br /> federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the <br /> powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other <br /> assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in <br /> accordance with section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the <br /> County of Hawaii is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement <br /> and related documents with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation to <br /> enable the County to receive funds as specified above. <br />
