i COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAPI SOLUTION NO. 585 22 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PAHOA SCHOOLS SUPPORT FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH FUNDING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS FOR PAHOA PUBLIC SCHOOLS. WHEREAS, the Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to supplement and fund activities to promote educational opportunities at Pahoa High and Intermediate School, Pahoa Elementary School, and Keonepoko Elementary School (hereinafter"Pahoa public schools"); and WHEREAS, Pahoa public schools provide opportunities outside of the classroom every year for students to engage with each other and the community through enhanced learning experiences; and WHEREAS, Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is working in partnership with Pahoa public schools to host several community engagement events throughout the school year, such as the Halloween"Trunk or Treat" event, a Thanksgiving event, an annual Health and Wellness Fair, and May Day activities; and WHEREAS, the Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is requesting funds to assist with purchasing decorations, materials, supplies, and other miscellaneous expenses associated with hosting community engagement events for Pahoa public schools; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol-free and drug-free community events and programs that improve the well-being of our youth; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Pahoa Schools Support Foundation to assist with funding community engagement events for Pahoa public schools. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
