4P•°` 9r <br /> COUNTY OF HAWA.III S'T'ATE OF HAWAII <br /> tra°oF`Nf�+ <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING A APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TTHE BIG ISLAM <br /> LIONS FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT THE DOWNTOWNL CHRISTMAS <br /> LIGHTS PARADE. <br /> WHEREAS,the Big Island Lions Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> comprised of four(4) East Hawaii Lions Clubs whose mission is to improve health and well- <br /> being, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian services and <br /> grants that impact lives globally, and encourage peace and international understanding; and <br /> WHEREAS, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Downtown Hilo <br /> Christmas Light Parade was conducted virtually; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Downtown Hilo Christmas Light Parade brings members of the <br /> community together to express their gratitude, sense of joy, and appreciation during the holiday <br /> season; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Lions Foundation will reintroduce this landmark community <br /> event on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 6:00 pm; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Lions Foundation is requesting funding assistance to help <br /> cover necessary expenses, including,but not limited to, special duty police officers, candy, <br /> permits, signage, banners, safety equipment/supplies for volunteers, and advertising; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that promote <br /> family-friendly events and activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Big Island Lions Foundation to support the Downtown <br /> Hilo Christmas Lights Parade. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
