axgVfOf <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ,AF®F°HPrt <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING A ATI N OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT N CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TTHE NORTH A AI`I <br /> HERITAGE FOUNDATION FO THE N `A RENAISSANCE FAI <br /> WHEREAS, the North Hawaii Heritage Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization that was established in 2021 to house the relocated Honoka`a Heritage Center <br /> (HHC) and whose mission is to collect, research, preserve, celebrate, and teach the history and <br /> heritage of the people and cultures of North Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, HHC is one of several local organizations, including Honoka`a Union Hall, <br /> Keystone Waldorf Homeschool, Friends of the Libraries of Hamakua, Waimea Community <br /> Theatre, Boy Scouts of America Aloha Council Troop 1, Ka Hale O Na Keiki Preschool, <br /> Hamakua Kohala Health Center, and others that are collaborating with the Honoka`a Business <br /> Association to support the Honoka`a Renaissance Faire; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Honoka`a Renaissance Faire will be a free event for all ages taking <br /> place throughout Honoka`a town on November 12, 2022, featuring wandering minstrels, side <br /> quests, shield maidens, festive food and drinks, archery,jousting, medieval crafts for the keiki, <br /> and more; and <br /> WHEREAS, the North Hawaii Heritage Foundation is requesting funds to assist with <br /> expenses for the Honoka`a Renaissance Faire that include banners, decorations, porta potty <br /> rentals, postage, printing, sound equipment, and supplies; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports developing partnerships <br /> with other recreation providers and community organizations to maximize services and activities <br /> for the public, as well as providing educational and leisure activities to share,preserve, <br /> perpetuate, and foster the appreciation of our rich multi-cultural heritage in the arts, history, and <br /> humanities; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the North Hawaii Heritage Foundation to support the <br /> Honoka`a Renaissance Faire. <br />
