I I COUNTY OF i *e. �* STATE OF t 3 SOLU'T'ION NO. A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRINGIAPPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HO`OULU LAHUI FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS GENI HOU PROJECT. WHEREAS, Ho`oulu Lahui is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to perpetuate cultural traditions and practices of the ancient Hawaiians and merges traditional concepts with current technology to create a sustainable community living in harmony with the environment; and WHEREAS, Ho`oulu Lahui, along with Kua O Ka La Charter School, six East Hawaii Rotary Clubs, Hiroshima Rotary Club, Eco Kaka`ako Rotary Club, and Friends of Lili`uokalani Park, is coordinating the Genki Hou Project; and WHEREAS, the Genki Hou Project's goal is to restore the five acres of traditional fish ponds in the Queen Liliu`okalani Park by utilizing Effective Microorganisms (EM)technology, known as Genki Balls, to remove pollutants from soil and water; and WHEREAS, Ho`oulu Lahui is requesting funds to purchase supplies and materials, and defray other costs directly related to its Genki Hou Project; and WHEREAS, Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide variety of services to meet the needs of the community while maintaining the cultural uniqueness of our rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District b will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Ho`oulu Lahui for expenses related to its Genki Hou Proj ect. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
