No. 576-22 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 2:33 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 576-22,reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 576-22, transmitted by Planning Director Zendo Kern, via Communication No. 1037, <br /> dated September 28, 2022, accepts a grant of public access and preservation easement from Kuleana <br /> Spirits, Inc. The subject parcel is on Tax Map Key: 5-5-006:010. The project area is approximately <br /> 43.854 acres. Resolution No. 576-22 was introduced by Chair Ashley Kierkiewicz, by request. <br /> Deputy Corporation Counsel Jean Campbell appeared before Your Committee in the Hilo <br /> Chambers to represent the Planning Department. She explained that this property is across from <br /> the property adjacent to the Upolu Airport Road in North Kohala. The requirement for the public <br /> access easement was established in 2002 after a settlement agreement. <br /> In 2018, the access easement was expanded to include a preservation element with the approval <br /> of a Special Management Area(SMA)use permit.
