Honolulu City and County Resolution No. 22-236
URGING THE HAWAII STATE LEGISLATURE TO ENACT
LEGISLATION TO ALLOCATE REVENUES FROM TRAFFIC
FINES AND FORFEITURES TO THE COUNTIES FOR LAW
ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES. Pending full council review on
I
November 2, 2022.
CM Waters: This is another way to try to get more revenue back to the counties.
Used the model offorfeiture when you forfeit property there is a portion that goes to
the counties.
i
iI
Ion Okudara: sent draft that amentias Act 215 to address the parking problem on
Kauai, that was approved and that will give the county the ability to get 50% of the
I
revenues for enforcing that thing. Sent draft that would amend that bill that would
allow the counties to designate special areas in the county and allow courts to give
them 50% of the revenues. It does not mention anything about unadjudicated fines.
What this would do is to take an existing law and say that you have to give 50% to
the counties.
