REQUEST: <br /> Requesting a resolution and a bill for an Ordinance to accept new grant funds in the amount of$75,000 for <br /> purpose of multi-agency law enforcement Firearms Prohibited Project let by the Office of the Prosecuting <br /> Attorney. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The State of Hawai'i Department of the Attorney General has provided advanced notification of federal funds <br /> award in the amount of$75,000 to the Prosecutor's Office for its Firearms Prohibited Project. This new <br /> appropriation will be for FY22-23, and funds will continue through FY23-24, as contract period will be <br /> 01/01/23 to 12/31/24). This project is designed to address the follow-up on persons who are ordered by the <br /> court to surrender firearms following initial appearance or the filing of criminal matters and therefore are <br /> prohibited from owning and/or possessing firearms and/or ammunition.
