;MtY OF,, , <br /> .r4n <br /> ........... .... <br /> ..... <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> we:'� _' <br /> r 'ATE CF•MF, -p.'. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 33 23 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH <br /> AND DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD FUNDS TO THE KOHALA <br /> CENTER <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Kohala Center, which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as <br /> defined above, will support the Pulama Kahalu'u: Supporting Ongoing Stewardship <br /> Program by providing an educational and stewardship program at Kahalu`u Bay; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research & Development wishes to provide <br /> $87,047 to The Kohala Center; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code, the Department of Research & Development is authorized to provide a grant of <br /> $87,047 to The Kohala Center to provide services as indicated above. <br />
