REQUEST: I <br /> i <br /> 3 <br /> The Office of Housing and Community Development is requesting a resolution authorizing the Director of <br /> Finance to negotiate a sixty-five year lease with the State of Hawaii for the purpose of development, <br /> construction and operation of a State Public Library within the County of Hawaii, owned by the Kamakoa Nui <br /> subdivision project in Waikoloa and identified as TMK: (3)6-8-041: 020. <br /> i <br /> The lease to the State of Hawaii for the new public library will be a gratis for the entire term of the lease. <br /> i <br /> s <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The County of Hawaii owns approximately 235 acres of undeveloped property known as Kamakoa Nui <br /> within Waikoloa Village in Waikoloa, Hawaii. The Kamakoa Nui development is planned for approximately <br /> 1,250 future single family and multi-family homes. The recently revised master plan for the Kamakoa Nui <br /> development also includes an existing public park together with an allowance for a future elementary school <br /> as requested by the Department of Education and a 2.567 acre site for the proposed State Public Library. <br /> SIGNED: DATE: <br /> epartment Head <br />
