She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree <br /> in Geography from the University of Hawai`i, Manoa, and recently served as the State of <br /> Hawai`i Senator for District 1. She is currently a substitute and part-time teacher for the <br /> Department of Education. <br /> Ms. Acasio has an extensive volunteer background, serving as a Government and Legislative <br /> liaison to the Hui `Oihana Hawai`i Island Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce. She is also a <br /> member of the Chamber of Sustainable Commerce, Rotary Club International, and Ka `Umeke <br /> Ka`eo Public Charter School.
