"of\a;'°... <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII :•� `:'''- � • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 64 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PULAMA IA KONA <br /> HERITAGE PRESERVATION COUNCIL TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS 1925 <br /> MONUMENT PROJECT. <br /> WHEREAS, Pulama la Kona Heritage Preservation Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose mission is to preserve,protect, and enhance the special qualities of historic <br /> Kona; and <br /> WHEREAS,the monument located at the entrance of Kona Koyasan Daishiji Mission in <br /> Holualoa, which was built in 1924 and dedicated in 1925, is the last remaining structure of over <br /> 30 small temples and Shinto shrines that existed along Mamalahoa Highway from South to North <br /> Kona before they were destroyed by the U.S. Military pursuant to Executive Order 9066, as <br /> issued by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 19, 1942; and <br /> WHEREAS, Pulama Ia Kona Heritage Preservation Council is requesting funds to assist <br /> with expenses for its 1925 Monument Restoration Project; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br /> promote positive, character-building projects in a drug and alcohol-free environment, such as <br /> Pulama Ia Kona Heritage Preservation Council's 1925 Monument Restoration Project; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Pulama la Kona Heritage Preservation Council to assist with <br /> expenses for its 1925 Monument Restoration Project. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
