WHEREAS, the Council finds that awarding a stewardship grant to Pohaha I Ka Lani <br /> will allow it to continue its ongoing efforts to reduce invasive species, propagate native plants, <br /> educate users about the area's history and culture, and preserve the land, promote public safety, <br /> and maintain a healthy stewardship; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Council further finds that awarding a stewardship grant to Pohaha I Ka <br /> Lani will benefit the community-at-large by demonstrating that maintenance fund monies can be <br /> utilized to preserve the land,promote public safety, and maintain a healthy stewardship of those <br /> properties that have been acquired using Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources <br /> Preservation funding; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that, <br /> pursuant to Section 10-16(h) of the Hawai`i County Charter, a Maintenance Fund stewardship <br /> grant shall be awarded to Pohaha I Ka Lani in the amount of$61,056. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 10-16(g) of the Hawai`i <br /> County Charter, funds from the stewardship grant awarded by this resolution shall be used for <br /> public safety maintenance and improvements,preservation of the Waipi`o Valley Lookout in <br /> Hamakua, and to facilitate educational land stewardship activities on the site acquired through <br /> the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund, identified as tax map <br /> key (3) 4-8-004:006. <br /> BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this <br /> resolution to the Director of Finance. <br /> Dated at Hilo , Hawai`i, this 8th day of March , 2023 • <br /> INTRODUCED BY: <br /> • <br /> C UN 'IL M ' BER, COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> COUNTY COUNCIL ROLL CALL VOTE <br /> County of Hawai`i AYES NOES ABS EX <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i EVANS X <br /> GALIMBA X <br /> I hereby certify that the foregoing RESOLUTION was by INABA X <br /> the vote indicated to the right hereof adopted by the COUNCIL of the KAGIWADA X <br /> County of Hawai`i on March 8, 2023 <br /> KANEALI`I-KLEINFELDER X <br /> KIERKIEWICZ X <br /> ATTEST: KIMBALL X <br /> LEE LOY X <br /> VILLEGAS X <br /> 9 0 0 0 <br /> Reference: C-131/Waived LAAO <br /> TY CLERK C ERSON&P SIDING OFFICER RESOLUTION NO. 69 23 <br /> 2 <br />
