V of\a;�';, ''�.. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -•_ �' / • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 78 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HALE MUA <br /> CULTURAL GROUP TO PURCHASE YEARBOOKS FOR EIGHTH GRADE <br /> STUDENTS AT KEALAKEHE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL. <br /> WHEREAS,the Hale Mua Cultural Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is <br /> dedicated to preserving and perpetuating Native Hawaiian culture and collaborating with groups <br /> that restore and maintain historical sites and offer educational programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kealakehe Intermediate School serves approximately 680 students, and the <br /> State of Hawai`i has determined that it is a"Title P' school with 73.08% of its students belonging <br /> to low-income households in the 2022-2023 school year; and <br /> WHEREAS, this will be the last year for the eighth grade students at Kealakehe <br /> Intermediate School, and many of their families may not be able to afford purchasing a yearbook <br /> for them; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is requesting funds to purchase yearbooks for <br /> the eighth grade students at Kealakehe Intermediate School to ensure that each family is able to <br /> obtain the captured and most memorable moments of intermediate school life for their child; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that promote youth <br /> education or activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Hale Mua Cultural Group to purchase yearbooks for <br /> eighth grade students at Kealakehe Intermediate School. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
