s�<v®`''9jy <br /> COUNTY OF <br /> C + s+ STATE OF G <br /> 'r4•p'F°NP`s <br /> SOLUTIO N <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING A APPROPRIATION UT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO DOMESTIC <br /> VIOLENCE HURTS ANIMALS AND PEOPLE TO ASSIST WITH CONSTRUCTION <br /> AND DISTRIBUTION OF DOG SHELTERS. <br /> WHEREAS, Domestic Violence Hurts Animals and People (DVHAP) is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization that strives to bring harmony to families and a voice to those who cannot <br /> speak through public policy action and awareness campaigns that educate our children on <br /> positive relations with animals; and <br /> WHEREAS, DVHAP operates a community-based project that utilizes recycled wood <br /> pallets to build dog houses for low-income households' island-wide; and <br /> WHEREAS, DVHAP is working to educate and bring awareness to the public on the <br /> plight of dogs left out in the elements through working with high school students to build dog <br /> shelters; and <br /> WHEREAS, DVHAP is requesting funding assistance for the materials and the delivery <br /> costs for 25 dog shelters to distribute to low-income families to help keep their dogs safely <br /> sheltered; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports this event as it is in keeping <br /> with the goals and objectives of the department to support safe and healthy community activities; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT.RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Domestic Violence Hurts Animals and People group <br /> to construct and distribute dog shelters. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
