REQUEST: Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement for one (1) F550 Super Duty 4x4 Pickup Truck with Utility Cabinets including Auto Crane for the Department of Environmental Management Wastewater Division. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The DEM Wastewater Division (WWD) is requesting to lease finance one Utility pickup truck with Auto Crane to support operations and maintenance activities of the Maintenance sections in Kona. The Kona mechanic truck year(1992) CH1737 mileages 68,731 had been deemed inoperable and condemned by the County Automotive.Division. The Kona mechanic needs this item to perform pump removal/installations (which requires the crane) and scheduled maintenance and repair work at various pump stations and treatment plants which involves transportng tools, equipment and materials to complete a job. Currently, the Kona mechanic borrows a vehicle from the operators as available to perform scheduled maintenance and repair, and borrows the crane truck from the Hilo mechanic for pump removal/installation jobs. This involves transporting equipment, materials and tools to complete the job. In particular, mechanic trucks are typically carrying tools specific to the needs of he mechanics and loading and unloading tools when borrowing vehicles is inefficient. The purchase price is estimated at $250,000. The estimated lease payment is $4,700 per month. The vehicle will be lease financed such that the County will own the vehicle at the end of the five year lease.
