°'�''?!y <br /> COUNTY OF G STATE OF G <br /> ,TF of H► <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 128 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TTHE WAIMEA <br /> PRESERVATION ASS CATI ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS <br /> ARCHIVAL S VATO PROJECT. <br /> WHEREAS, since its incorporation in 1993, the Waimea Preservation Association <br /> (WPA) has been entrusted with a large number of historic photographs and documents, which <br /> tell the unique story of Waimea's people and culture; and <br /> WHEREAS, in an effort to preserve these historic materials and make them accessible <br /> for future generations to learn from,the WPA is partnering with students and kupuna(elders) <br /> from across South Kohala to scan its archival collection; and <br /> WHEREAS, the WPA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the <br /> rich cultural and historic heritage of Waimea and to supporting a strong and prosperous <br /> community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the WPA is requesting funding assistance to help purchase the necessary <br /> supplies, including technological equipment and miscellaneous office materials, for its archival <br /> preservation project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this project as it is in <br /> keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support the cultural uniqueness of <br /> Hawaii County and promote activities and programs in culture, history, arts, and the humanities; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Waimea Preservation Association to assist with <br /> expenses related to its archival preservation project. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
