JL29 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING ANAP P ATI N OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANTT THE NORTH <br /> KOHALA COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES <br /> RELATED TO THE KOHALA HIGH SCHOOLCT GRAD NIGHT. <br /> WHEREAS, high school graduations are exciting occasions to celebrate and recognize <br /> students for all of their hard work and educational accomplishments as they move on to the next <br /> chapter of their lives; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kohala High School Project Grad Night is a collaborative effort by parents, <br /> teachers, and students to ensure that the Kohala High School graduating class of 2023 is able to <br /> celebrate their achievement in a healthy, fun, and responsible manner; and <br /> WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization, is working in partnership with the organizers of the Kohala High School Project <br /> Grad Night to provide a safe, enjoyable, and substance-free overnight graduation party for the <br /> Kohala High School graduating class of 2023; and <br /> WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center is requesting funding <br /> assistance to help secure the venue and comedian entertainment for Kohala High School Project <br /> Grad Night; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this project as it is in keeping <br /> with the goals and objectives of the department to support public programs that provide Hawaii <br /> County residents, especially young people, with fun activities in a safe, drug- and alcohol-free <br /> environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the North Kohala Community Resource Center to assist with <br /> expenses related to the Kohala High School Project Grad Night. <br />
