COUNTY OF HAWAIII * :* STATE OF C <br /> OF 14- <br /> RESOLUTION NO. :136 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF HIL <br /> FOR ITS 19th ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE EVENT. <br /> WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo, DBA Hawaii Care Choices, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization that provides medical, social, and spiritual services for terminally ill patients at their <br /> end of life, as well as providing support to their families and caregivers; and <br /> WHEREAS, for the past 19 years, Hospice of Hilo has held its annual Celebration of <br /> Life event to raise awareness and provide education regarding end-of-life choices, with this <br /> year's event to be held on May 28, 2023, at Reeds Bay Beach Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 19th Annual Celebration of Life is an event to remember loved ones that <br /> have passed—honoring the life they have lived and the lives they have touched, as well as <br /> celebrating the diverse and rich cultural foundation of our island; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is requesting funds to help defray the costs of this event, <br /> including, but not limited to, event marketing materials, rental of equipment, and supplies; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide <br /> events and activities that celebrate and commemorate our culture, heritage, and diverse <br /> communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hospice of Hilo for its 19th Annual Celebration of Life <br /> event. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
