STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ,44 Df•µ' '• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 172 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO YWCA OF HAWAII <br /> ISLAND FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS DEVELOPMENTAL PRESCHOOL. <br /> WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai`i Island is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that is <br /> dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace,justice, freedom, <br /> and dignity for all; and <br /> WHEREAS, YWCA Developmental Preschool has been in existence for over 60 years, <br /> providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children ages two through five; and <br /> WHEREAS, nutrition and exercise are crucial to the process of early childhood <br /> development, and the YWCA Developmental Preschool frequently takes students on walks to <br /> nearby County parks to play and enjoy their healthy lunch or snacks outdoors; and <br /> WHEREAS, in the past two years, food costs have increased by almost 55 percent for the <br /> YWCA Developmental Preschool, but it continues to provide nutritious meals and snacks to all its <br /> students, regardless of their economic status; and <br /> WHEREAS,the YWCA Developmental Preschool is requesting funds to help defray the <br /> expenses of providing nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks to all its students; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports diversified programs and <br /> activities that improve the mental and physical health of our youth in a safe environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks <br /> and Recreation to provide a grant to YWCA of Hawai`i Island for expenses related to its <br /> Developmental Preschool. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
