No. 178-23 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 4:47 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Resolution <br /> No. 178-23, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 178-23, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna Sako, via Communication <br /> No. 293 dated April 28, 2023, authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to award funds to <br /> `Ghana O Kohanaiki Cultural Foundation. <br /> This resolution would provide grant funds in the amount of$48,000 for roof repairs to the Native <br /> Hawaiian Hale at Kohanaiki Beach Park. <br /> Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Michelle Hiraishi stated that Kohanaiki is a fantastic beach <br /> park with a very large traditional hale that has a deteriorated roof needing to be replaced. <br /> Pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and <br /> the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution. <br /> Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions is in accord with the purpose and intent <br /> of Resolution No. 178-23, and recommends its adoption. <br /> w b <br /> AYES NOES ABS Ex Respectfully submitted, <br /> EVANS X <br /> GALIMBA X COMMITTEE ON LEGISLATIVE <br /> INABA X APPROVALS AND ACQUISLTIONS <br /> KAGIWADA X <br /> KANEALI`I-KLEINFELDER X 'a4-z <br /> KIERKIEWICz X H LEKA GORO INABA, HAIR <br /> KIMBALL X <br /> LEE LOY X LAAC REPORT NO.: 18 <br /> VILLEGAS X ADOPTED: JUN 0 7 2023 <br />
