i <br /> i <br /> i <br /> HAWAIICOUNTY OF STATE OF HAWAII i <br /> h <br /> ,TE OF•NF� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 19, S 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING A APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO INTERFAIT <br /> COMMUNITIES IN ACTION FOR ITS FUN WALK FUNDRAISER FOR HABITAT <br /> FOR HUMANITY HAWAII ISLAND. <br /> i <br /> WHEREAS, Interfaith Communities in Action is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br /> was established in 1999 to address the social needs of our community and to help end family <br /> homelessness on Hawaii Island; and <br /> 1 <br /> WHEREAS, Interfaith Communities in Action has established a fund, Hale ka Po`e 4 <br /> Keiki (Homes for Children), to be awarded each year to an organization or group committed to <br /> creating affordable housing, with the 2023 awardee being Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Interfaith Communities in Action is hosting a Fun Walk fundraiser <br /> scheduled for August 12, 2023, at the Edith Kanaka`ole Multi-Purpose Stadium, which will be a <br /> free, family-friendly, community event that seeks to raise awareness and funds to help end <br /> family homelessness; and <br /> WHEREAS, Interfaith Communities in Action is requesting funds to defray the costs for <br /> this event, which includes expenses for media marketing, facility rental fees, and participant gift <br /> bags; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this event as it is in <br /> keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to provide a diversified recreation <br /> program that addresses the needs and interest of the respective communities in a safe <br /> environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Interfaith Communities in Action for its Fun Walk <br /> fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island. <br />
