and to restore habitat and removal of invasive species; (4) acting as a supportive collaborator to the Hawai`i Island Hawksbill Turtle Recovery Project; and (5) enhancing hawksbill turtle nesting success through predator control; and WHEREAS, the Council further finds that awarding a stewardship grant to Hawai`i Wildlife Fund will benefit the community-at-large by demonstrating that maintenance fund monies can be utilized to preserve the land,promote public safety, and maintain a healthy stewardship of those properties that have been acquired using Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation funding; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, pursuant to Section 10-16(h) of the Hawai`i County Charter, a Maintenance Fund stewardship grant shall be awarded to Hawai`i Wildlife Fund in the amount of$15,748.00. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that,pursuant to Section 10-16(g) of the Hawaii County Charter, funds from the stewardship grant awarded by this resolution shall be used for protection of native wildlife and preservation of the Kahuku Coastal Property in Ka`u acquired through the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund, identified as tax map key (3) 9-2-001:075. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Finance.
