L4oJN`v.of k��irl,�. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII s k : STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ATF OFeHP <br /> RESOLUTION NO. gi,i6 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE <br /> FUTURE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE CELEBRATE `GHANA <br /> FESTIVAL IN WEST HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is <br /> to encourage sustained conversations based in mutual respect for diversity and to bring about <br /> shared understanding and consensus within communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Puakalehua Early Learning Consortium is a grass-roots organization <br /> made up of schools, agencies and other organizations dedicated to the advancement and <br /> strengthening of early learning in West and North Hawaii communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is working in partnership with Puakalehua Early <br /> Learning Consortium to host the "Celebrate `Ohana Festival" at the Old Kona Airport on <br /> December 9, 2023, which will celebrate and honor the importance of setting a good foundation <br /> in the early years of every child; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funds to assist with expenses such as <br /> snacks, drinks, supplies, equipment, portable luas, and other expenses related to conducting this <br /> event; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth <br /> programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol-free environment, such as the <br /> Celebrate `Ghana Festival; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for expenses related to the Celebrate <br /> `Ohana Festival in West Hawai`i. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
