in accordance with the project description submitted and in strict adherence to the conditions governing the Maintenance Fund; and WHEREAS,the Council finds that awarding a stewardship grant to Ala Kahakai Trail Association will benefit the community-at-large by demonstrating that Maintenance Fund monies can be utilized to preserve the land, promote public safety, and maintain a healthy stewardship of those properties that have been acquired using the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that pursuant to Section 10-16(h) of the Hawai`i County Charter, a Maintenance Fund stewardship grant shall be awarded to Ala Kahakai Trail Association in the amount of$160,000 to establish a Kaunamano Community Resource Management Plan. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 10-16(g) of the Hawai`i County Charter, funds from the stewardship grant awarded by this resolution shall be used for the conservation,preservation, and protection of the Kaunamano property acquired through the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund, identified as tax map keys (3) 9-5-011:001, 004, 005, 006 and (3) 9-5-012:001.
