�NYI of <br /> COUNTY OF HA AI`I STATE OF HAWAII <br /> 'Ap°OF'NF� <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING N APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO WAIMEA <br /> COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION TO SUPPORT THE 2023 WAIMEA CHRISTMAS <br /> TWILIGHT PARADE. <br /> WHEREAS, Waimea Community Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br /> mission is to preserve, maintain, enhance, and protect community values by embracing diversity <br /> while continuing Waimea's tradition of community building and community service; and <br /> WHEREAS, the annual Waimea Christmas Twilight Parade has been held for over six <br /> decades and is the second oldest community parade in the State of Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Waimea Christmas Twilight Parade brings members of the community <br /> together to express their gratitude, sense of joy, and appreciation during the holiday season; and <br /> WHEREAS, Waimea Community Association works in conjunction with the volunteer <br /> parade committee to successfully organize and facilitate this long-standing tradition that is held <br /> annually on the first Saturday of December at 5:30 p.m.; and <br /> WHEREAS, Waimea Community Association is requesting funding assistance to help <br /> cover necessary expenses, including, but not limited to, special-duty police officers, narrator and <br /> audio equipment/supplies for volunteers, and other parade supplies and expenses; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that promote <br /> family-friendly events and activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief fiends shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Waimea Community Association to support the 2023 <br /> Waimea Christmas Twilight Parade. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
