d'JN�Yof.L�,.., <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I `:"'=' � *; STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 227 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GRASSROOTS <br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 9TH <br /> ANNUAL HAWAI`I ISLAND ALL NATIONS POWWOW. <br /> WHEREAS, Grassroots Community Development Group (GCDG) is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization whose mission is to support diverse grassroots projects focusing on health <br /> and wellness, cultural preservation, and family well-being; and <br /> WHEREAS, GCDG along with Hawai`i Island All Nations Powwow is hosting the 9th <br /> annual Hawai`i Island All Nations Powwow, an intercultural experience scheduled for <br /> September 16 - 17, 2023, at the Puna Hongwanji in Kea'au; and <br /> WHEREAS, a Powwow is a sacred and significant gathering of Native American tribes <br /> and nations, symbolizing a celebration of life and an opportunity to pay homage to the host <br /> culture of the islands; and <br /> WHEREAS, GCDG is requesting funds to cover necessary expenses relating to the event <br /> including, but not limited to, event coordination and administration, generator and sound system, <br /> venue fee,paper goods, refreshments, and event permits; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free <br /> events that enrich the lives of community members; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Grassroots Community Development Group for the 9th <br /> Annual Hawai`i Island All Nations Powwow. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
