COUNTY OF HAWAI`I "' STATE OF HAWAI`I . qTE OF.H►'i� RESOLUTION NO. 246 23 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 67TH ANNUAL HAWAII STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE. WHEREAS,the County of Hawai`i Police Depaitnient is committed to providing the highest quality of police service and forming partnerships within the community; and WHEREAS,the annual Hawai`i State Law Enforcement Officials Association(HSLEOA) Conference is recognized as Hawai`i's premier law enforcement symposium that has led the way to unite law enforcement agencies to meet the many challenges that they face; and WHEREAS, "Challenges Facing Modern Policing" will be this year's theme for the 67th Annual HSLEOA Conference, which will be held at the Waikoloa Beach Marriot Resort & Spa on September 27-29, 2023; and WHEREAS, one of the highlights for this year's conference will be the recognition of the HSLEOA Officers of the Year honoring officers for their exceptional service, including those from the previous three years who were not formally recognized due to the cancellation of HSLEOA Conferences during the COVID pandemic; and WHEREAS,the County of Hawai`i Police Department is requesting funds to assist with travel and hotel expenses for the Officers of the Year from all four counties to attend the 67th Annual HSLEOA Conference; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the County of Hawai`i Police Department to assist with expenses relating to the 67th Annual HSLEOA Conference to be held on September 27-29, 2023. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
