•.yam <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI'I +.A :'•-•.J STATE OF HAWAI'I <br /> ------------- <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 268 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII JAPANESE <br /> CENTER FOR THE JAPANESE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII'S 2023 <br /> BUNKA NO HI PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Japanese Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br /> serves as a cultural, research, and educational center for the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Japanese Center is working in partnership with the Japanese <br /> Community Association of Hawai`i (JCAH) to coordinate the JCAH 2023 Bunka No Hi, a <br /> biennial program celebrating Japanese culture in Hawai`i, that will be held on <br /> November 18, 2023; and <br /> WHEREAS, the JCAH 2023 Bunka No Hi program is open to the general public, <br /> highlighted by an Omikoshi parade, and will include activities such as calligraphy,tea ceremony, <br /> origami, bonsai, food booths, martial arts, and other cultural demonstrations; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Japanese Center is requesting funds to cover expenses for <br /> printed materials, venue rental, security, and other incidentals related to the JCAH 2023 Bunka <br /> No Hi program; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br /> provide drug-free and alcohol-free events for the community; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Hawai`i Japanese Center for the Japanese Community <br /> Association of Hawai`i's 2023 Bunka No Hi program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
