••;MtY GF ,•. <br /> • <br /> • <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI I + STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> ., 14 N . <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 274 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FRIENDS OF <br /> FIRST RESPONDERS TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS UPCOMING <br /> TRAINING PROGRAMS. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i County relies on the competence,passion, and dedication of <br /> professionally trained first responders to provide public safety, fire protection, law enforcement, <br /> emergency medical care, and other types of services for the safety and well-being of all <br /> communities across our County; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of First Responders is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br /> mission is to promote the health and wellness of first responders through trainings, events, and <br /> programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Friends of First Responders is working in collaboration with our <br /> County's first responder agencies to provide their employees with additional training <br /> opportunities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Friends of First Responders is requesting funding assistance to help <br /> cover necessary expenses relating to its upcoming training programs, including but not limited <br /> to, materials, supplies, and instructions for its G.R.I.N. crisis intervention training, Blue Courage <br /> training, and resilience training sessions that are,scheduled for the current fiscal year 2023-2024; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Fire Department supports this project as it is in keeping with <br /> the goals and objectives of the department to support the continued training and evaluation of all <br /> departmental personnel to ensure the highest level of competency and proficiency to the Hawai`i <br /> County community; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Hawai`i Fire <br /> Department to provide a grant to Friends of First Responders to assist with expenses related to its <br /> upcoming training programs. <br />
