COUNTY OF HAWAII •f. .',::•'e*• STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 276 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PAHOA LAVA <br /> ZONE MUSEUM TO SUPPORT PLACEMAKING INITIATIVES IN PAHOA VILLAGE. <br /> WHEREAS,the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, displays <br /> cultural art and volcanic exhibits and artifacts that highlight the unique geological features of <br /> lower Puna, attracting visitors and residents who are contributing to the revitalization of <br /> downtown Pahoa and the surrounding community; and <br /> WHEREAS,placemaking is a multi-faceted approach to creating quality places where <br /> people want to live, work, play, and learn by inspiring and promoting social interaction and <br /> cultural exchange; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum supports placemaking initiatives that will <br /> bring community together, such as the annual Christmas parade, the Paint Pahoa Town project, <br /> and the Pahoa Public Safety Partnership crime prevention summits; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum is requesting funds to cover necessary <br /> expenses relating to placemaking initiatives in Pahoa Village including, but not limited to, event <br /> coordination and administration, equipment rental, artist fees, and meals for participants of the <br /> Pahoa Public Safety Partnership summits; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free <br /> events that enrich the lives of community members; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum to support placemaking <br /> initiatives in Pahoa Village. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
