JNYYF I. <br />O ........ <br />•S7 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII t STATE OF HAWAII <br />qTf OF•N►i <br />RESOLUTION NO. 291 23 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII JAPANESE <br />CENTER FOR THE JAPANESE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION OF HAWAI`I'S 2023 <br />BUNKA NO HI EVENT. <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Japanese Center (HJC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />that serves as a cultural, research, and educational center for the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the HJC is working in partnership with the Japanese Community <br />Association of Hawaii (JCAH) to coordinate the JCAH 2023 Bunka No Hi, a biennial event <br />celebrating Japanese culture in Hawaii, that will be held on November 18, 2023; and <br />WHEREAS, the JCAH 2023 Bunka No Hi event is open to the general public, <br />highlighted by an Omikoshi parade, and will include activities such as calligraphy, tea ceremony, <br />origami, bonsai, food booths, martial arts, and other cultural demonstrations; and <br />WHEREAS, the HJC is requesting funding assistance to help cover necessary expenses, <br />such as printed materials and rental fees for the audio/visual equipment for the JCAH 2023 <br />Bunka No Hi event; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br />provide drug-free and alcohol -free events for the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Hawaii Japanese Center for the Japanese Community <br />Association of Hawai`i's 2023 Bunka No Hi event. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
