JNtV UP H,�1 <br />L <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />+: �' .rte;"• ��` <br />�TEOF MF'� <br />RESOLUTION NO. 295 23 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SANCTUARY OF <br />MANA KE`A GARDENS TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS <br />WELLNESS THROUGH AGRICULTURE MANIFESTIVAL AT HALE HALAWAI. <br />WHEREAS, Sanctuary of Mand Ke`a Gardens is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />whose mission is to offer educational and purposeful options for self and global renewal through <br />a dynamic connection of sustainability and spirituality, and provides information to promote <br />healthy and vibrant vegan lifestyles; and <br />WHEREAS, Sanctuary of Mand Ke`a Gardens is hosting its Wellness Through <br />Agriculture Manifestival that is a free agricultural festival for the West Hawaii community to <br />provide education in organic agriculture, sustainability, zero -waste, conscious living, and <br />Hawaiian culture, which will also include animal rescue and welfare activities; and <br />WHEREAS, Sanctuary of Mand Ke`a Gardens is requesting funds to assist with <br />expenses such as facility rental and supplies and materials related to its Wellness Through <br />Agriculture Manifestival, which will be held on December 2, 2023, at the Hale Halawai; and <br />WHEREAS, educational and artistic events, such as the Wellness Through Agriculture <br />Manifestival, support the objectives of the Department of Parks and Recreation's Culture and <br />Education program to promote, perpetuate, and encourage activities and programs in culture, art, <br />history, and humanities; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Sanctuary of Mand Ke`a Gardens to assist with <br />expenses related to its Wellness Through Agriculture Manifestival. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
