COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 301 23 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO YWCA OF HAWAII <br />ISLAND FOR ITS 14TH ANNUAL WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES EVENT. <br />WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawaii Island is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is <br />dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, <br />and dignity for all; and <br />WHEREAS, last year, YWCA of Hawaii Island responded to 1,597 crisis and support <br />calls on its 24-hour Sexual Assault Crisis Hotline; and <br />WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawaii Island organizes an annual walk to raise awareness and <br />support for those who are survivors of rape, sexual assault, and gender violence; and <br />WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawaii Island's 14th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event <br />will be held on October 28, 2023, through downtown Hilo; and <br />WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawaii Island is requesting funds for expenses including, but <br />not limited to, refreshments for the walkers and volunteers, footwear for the walkers to borrow, <br />and shoe cleaning supplies; and <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports domestic and family <br />violence prevention and intervention initiatives by collaborating with other governmental and <br />private agencies to provide education and awareness about sexual assault; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to YWCA of Hawaii Island for its 14th Annual Walk a <br />Mile in Her Shoes event. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai` i hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
