COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 304 23 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH <br />AND DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD FUNDS TO THE HAWAII <br />LOCAL2023 HUB <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br />County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of $25,000 <br />to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br />grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br />or resolution; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br />Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br />profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax -exemption from the <br />Internal Revenue Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Loca12030 Hub, which qualifies as a nonprofit <br />organization as defined above, will provide community engagement and <br />communication plans for the County of Hawai`i's sustainability and climate action <br />programs and the Aloha+ Challenge; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development wishes to provide <br />$75,000 to the Hawaii Loca12030 Hub; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in <br />accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br />Code, the Department of Research and Development is authorized to provide a grant <br />of $75,000 to the Hawaii Loca12030 Hub to provide services as indicated above. <br />
