Sako <br />Director <br />Diane Nakagawa <br />Deputy Director <br />a <br />LZ <br />The Department of Environmental Management has been selected for potential funding <br />of $1,522,130 from the United States of America through the United States <br />Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The funding through the Solid Waste <br />Infrastructure for Recycling Grants for political subdivisions, now referred to as SWIFR <br />Communities Grants will be used to design and implement a city -scale reusable food <br />ware and refillable bottle system in Hilo, Hawaii. <br />Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement to accept these funds. Also enclosed <br />is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this <br />$1,522,130. <br />If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Craig Kawaguchi of the <br />Department of Environmental Management at 961-8549. <br />0j <br />Deanna S.
