REQUEST: <br />The Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) is requesting a resolution authorizing the <br />Director of Finance to negotiate a sixty-eight year lease with the Kamakoa Nui Limited Partnership for the <br />purpose of the development and construction of an affordable workforce rental housing project situated at <br />Waikoloa, District of South Kohala, and identified as TMK (3) 6-8-042:022. <br />The OHCD respectfully requests that the above mentioned matter be placed on the Finance Committee <br />Agenda on October 17, 2023. <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br />The County of Hawai'i owns approximately 235 acres of undeveloped property in Waikoloa Village for the <br />purpose of providing affordable housing and related purposes at the Kamakoa Nui Subdivision. The County <br />intends to partner with Kamakoa Nui Limited Partnership to develop a 140 -unit of affordable workforce rental <br />housing project. <br />OHCD would like this Resolution to be placed on the October 17, 2023 Committee meeting. <br />SIGNED: DATE: Z L <br />Dep ment Head <br />
