COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />fe'NTMOMi'\ <br />'1Tp''oF•N;e <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KONA TASK <br />FORCE ON FEEDING THE HUNGRY TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO <br />ITS MEET AND EAT PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization that provides food to the low-income and homeless population of Hawaii County; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, for over 31 years, the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry has provided <br />weekly hot meals to those less fortunate through its Meet and Eat program; and <br />WHEREAS, many families in Kona continuously struggle with severe financial hardship, <br />and the Meet and Eat program provides free grab -and -go meals to those in need every Tuesday at <br />6:00-6:30 p.m.at Kealakehe Intermediate School; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry is requesting funds to help pay <br />for produce, protein, and supplies related to the preparation and distribution of meals; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol- and drug-free programs <br />and activities that promote the betterment of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry to assist with <br />expenses related to its Meet and Eat program. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
